GAMES… GAMES… GAMES…
Saturday / March 2, 2013 / SCT San Lorenzo Gym By: League Chairman Raymond A. Bonifacio FIRST GAME SCT BATCH 87 tyrannized SCT FACULTY TEAM, 63-50 to gain a cross-over semi-finals seat versus SCT BATCH 92. It was such a splendid showcase of eye-popping passes, amusing drives to the basket and crafty jump shots as SCT BATCH 87 captured the BRACKET A Championship title and headily cruised their way to the league cross-over semis FINAL 4 for the right to meet the Bracket B Champion SCT BATCH 92. Willie Guallar had a sterling performance for SCT BATCH 87 as he scattered a season best 24 points and ably supported by their go-to slotman Allan Lopez with 16 points. However, for the very first time this season, their gunner Rannie “The Man with A Golden Hand” Manuel had an off-night as he didn’t score a single point in the ballgame. Nonetheless, per Rannie, winning the game is the most important thing rather than scoring a dozen of points but for a losing cause. Arlon Oco carried the scoring chores for SCT FACULTY TEAM with 13 points and Carbo with 8 points. Robert “The Slasher” Perpetua however, scored only 9 points in the ball game that somehow favoured the opposing team. With the loss, our beloved teachers from the SCT FACULTY TEAM for now have to be sidelined and wait for the next season. SCT BATCH 87 shall go head-to-head for the single game do-or-die match up with SCT BATCH 92 next week with the following exciting matches to watch for: · ALLAN LOPEZ of SCT Batch 87 will bang bodies and bulldozer his way inside the shaded lane with the equally strong and potent RAMIL “The Insider” Huang of SCT Batch 92. · Likewise, RANNIE “the Man with a Golden Hand” Manuel of SCT Batch 87 is expected to fire-out astonishing jumpshots, mind-blowing 3-point bombs and dazzling moves to the basket against the equally talented and determined ENRICO PANGAN of SCT Batch 92. 5 years age gap does not matter. Let us expect a night full of intensity, blood and passion next Saturday for the cross-over semi-finals between SCT BATCH 87 and SCT Batch 92. Cheers! |
SECOND GAME
SCT BATCH 2004 survived a renewed and rejuvenated SCT BATCH 2000 Team with a bloodcurdling and spine-tingling 55-53 win. It was a see-saw battle at the start of the ball game that saw SCT BATCH 2004 pulled away with a 12 point lead midway in the second quarter. However, the ever determined and gritty players of the New Millenium Batch 2000 surged their way up to tie the ball game and even took the lead early in the third canto. But the youngest team in the league SCT BATCH 2004 pulled-away anew late in the third quarter up to the middle of the fourth as they wrecked-havoc and cruised their way over SCT BATCH 2000 with a ten point lead. A surprised outpour of shootings and superb drives to the basket were unleashed by SCT BATCH 2000 as they came closed to within 3 points in the last one minute of the ball game and came to within 1 point, 54-53 in the last 10 seconds. But the steady hands and focus to the game of SCT BATCH 2004 gave them a somehow safe 2-point lead via split free throws by BERNARD "The Ninja Kid" MAGALING with 9.8 seconds remaining in the ball game. A time-out was called for the last play of SCT BATCH 2000, either tying the ball game or leading by a point with a 3-point bomb. But as fate has it for SCT BATCH 2000, they fumbled the ball and made a mistake in the dying seconds of the ball game giving the SCT BATCH 2004 an unblemished record of nine straight wins since the elimination and grab the seat for the right to meet the equally talented and flashy boys of SCT BATCH 99 in the cross-over semi-finals. Season MVP front runner BERNARD “The Ninja Kid” Magaling topscored anew for his team with a quiet 16 point performance and ably supported by his buddy RJ LAROCO with 13 clutch points (including three 3-point bombs) and DANNY TAPALES with 12 points. JP Morales however topscored for SCT Batch 2000 with 13 points. It will be goodbye SCT BATCH 2000 for now and see you next season. Good Game! SCT BATCH 2004 shall go head-to-head for the single game do-or-die match up with SCT BATCH 99 next week with the following exciting matches to watch for: · Battle of the two Season MVP front runners: BERNARD “The Ninja Kid” MAGALING of SCT BATCH 2004 versus ANTHONY “The Phenomenal Executioner” STA. ANA of SCT BATCH 99. Expect a barrage of shootings and razzle dazzle moves to the basket between the two magnificent and flashy players as they go HEAD-TO-HEAD against each other to determine who among the two, as I speak, is the best forward in the current SCT Alumni Basketball league. Likewise, expect an exciting point guard match-ups between RAMIR “Suphafly” GABUTINA of SCT BATCH 99 and DANNY “The Groove” TAPALES of SCT BATCH 2004 when they collide for the very first time and display some fast and furious plays in the game. Again, 5 years age gap does not matter. Let us expect a night full of intensity, blitzes and extreme burning passion next Saturday for the cross-over semi-finals between SCT BATCH 99 and SCT BATCH 2004. Hooray! |
