Friday / January 18, 2013 SCT San Lorenzo Gym FIRST GAME SCT FACULTY TEAM smothered SCT BATCH 89 for their second straight win. Score: 81-72 With superlative plays and well-orchestrated moves, the SCT Faculty Team of Mr. Vic Luna picked-up their second win in a row by beating the undermanned SCT Batch 89 last Friday, January 18, 2013. Though playing with exactly 6 players present in the gym, SCT BATCH 89 fought ‘till the end and gave a good fight to the SCT FACULTY TEAM. But the team of Mr. Luna relentlessly displayed great plays and teamwork leading to a 9 point advantage as the final buzzer sounds. The loss relegated SCT Batch 89 to fourth place behind SCT Faculty Team in the Bracket standing by virtue of the quotient system applied. Robert “The Slasher” Perpetua scored a career high 33 points followed by Arlon Oco and Carbo with a combined 35 points. SCT Faculty Team and SCT Batch 88 shall slug-it-out this coming January 25 for the right to be in the second spot of the bracket team standing and gain a twice to beat advantage going into the bracket semis. SECOND GAME SCT STUDENT ASSISTANTS gained their second straight victory over the hapless SCT BATCH 2000; Score: 71-59 It was their second straight victory, and the ever diligent and hard-working student assistants of Siena College of Taytay brought the house down with a very convincing victory, highlighted by great fast breaks, 3-point bombs and eye-popping passes. Junril Opsima led the SCT based players with 26 points and ably supported by Ely Boy “The Rebound Monster” Quiaout with 16 points. For SCT Batch 2000, 5 players scored in double figures led by Ronnie Briones with 18, Jay Bernardo with 15, Leo Boy Banares with 11 and Abe Matibag with 10, but their scores are not enough to carry their team to victory. With the loss, SCT Batch 2000 dropped to 4-3 win loss record, but maintains the second spot in the standing, while SCT Student Assistants Team improved to 2-5 win loss record reviving their chance for the top 4 teams to fight in the coming bracket semi-finals. GAMES… GAMES… GAMES… Saturday / January 19, 2013 SCT San Lorenzo Gym FIRST GAME SCT BATCH 92 battered SCT Batch 90 for their third straight victory and gained the solo first spot in the bracket team standing. Score: 67-55 Four players hit double figures for SCT BATCH 92 that saw them leading all-throughout the game. Castaneda and Huang collected 15 points apiece, Pangan with 13 and Dolores with 12. Great team work and the inside presence of Ramil “The Insider” Huang really spelled the difference between the two teams. Huang collected a couple of great offensive rebounds and the rest of the Batch 92 squad took advantage of the seemingly tired and drained SCT Batch 90. Macayan, Cruz and Borja are the only players who scored in double figures for SCT Batch 90 with a total of 30 combined points. SCT Batch 92 now holds the solo leadership in the bracket standing and shall face the 4th seeded SCT Batch 94 for the bracket semi-finals. SCT Batch 90 and 91 will bring it on for the other semis match up being the number 2 and 3 teams in the standing, with Batch 90 gaining the twice-to-beat advantage by virtue of a +1 quotient system point vs. SCT Batch 91. SECOND GAME SCT BATCH 94 finally grabbed their first win of the season over the Rogel Alcoriza less SCT Batch 91 team. Bien Andre Llagas scattered a career best 32 points, followed by Apolo “The Hotshot” Aramil with 19 markers, for a very convincing win over the slumping SCT Batch 91. Only one player, Cosino scored in double figures for SCT Batch 91 with 12 markers as they loss anew and cemented their spot in third place behind SCT Batch 90. Despite the win, SCT Batch 94 remained to be in the fourth spot facing the number 1 seeded SCT Batch 92 in the bracket semi-finals. Batches 90 and 91 shall be the other match-up for the 2-3 spots with SCT Batch 90 gaining the twice-to-beat advantage. |

Sunday / January 20, 2013 SCT San Lorenzo Gym FIRST GAME SCT BATCH 98 clobbered SCT BATCH 95 anew to gain the rights for the solo second spot in the team standing behind SCT Batch 99. Score: 97-69 The triumvirate of Gilbert Lorenzo with 23 points, Pahjong “The Bull Strong” Avelino with 21 and Ding “Mr. Clutch” Reyes also with 21 points, emerges as they beat anew the winless SCT Batch 95. The game was closed in the first half until Pahjong “The Bull Strong” Avelino arrived in the early minutes of the third quarter that saw them pulling-up to a double digit lead going in the fourth quarter and never looked back. Edmar 'The Big Deal" Robale led the scoring chores for his team with a 31-point effort, including four 3-pointers, but failed to get enough support from his partner John Rally “The Bomber” Manosca who only posted an unusual 12 points. Manosca didn’t convert any 3-point shots in a game for the first time this season. With the win, SCT Batch 98 now enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage over the Bok Manosca led SCT Batch 96 team in the coming bracket semi-finals. Bracket leading SCT Batch 99, with a twice-to-beat advantage, shall slug-it-out with the winless SCT Batch 95 in the other bracket semis match-up. SECOND GAME SCT BATCH 99 team claimed the first spot in the bracket semis and assured themselves of a twice-to beat-advantage by clobbering SCT BATCH 96; Score: 86-76 Anthony “The Executioner” Sta. Ana banged-in 23 points and ably supported by Ramir "Supahfly" Gabutina with 22 and Dennis "Poker Face" Deles with 15 markers, as they hold-off SCT Batch 96 anew in their final game of the eliminations. BOK “Book It” MANOSCA singlehandedly carried the whole SCT Batch 96 team by posting a season high 57 huge points (75% of his team’s total points) and cemented his name as the scoring champion in the present SCT-ASUL Basketball Tournament. His big point production was not enough to pull-up his team to victory as the younger and fast break oriented team of SCT Batch 99 became too much for SCT Batch 96 to handle. SCT Batch 96 fell to third place in the bracket standing as they will have to face and win twice over the second seeded SCT Batch 98 in the semis face-off. THIRD GAME SCT BATCH 2004 grabbed their 6th win in a row by outplaying the slumping SCT BATCH 2003; Score: 76-61 Bernard “The Ninja Kid” Magaling had another sterling performance for his team by posting 23 points and dishing out some great passes all over the court. Danny Tapales helped Magaling with 15 points. SCT Batch 2004 started the game on high spirits and wrecked-havoc over SCT Batch 2003 as they managed to hold-on against the combined efforts of Alvin “The Assassin" Edwards with 23 points and David Victorio with 10. The loss was the fourth straight for SCT BATCH 2003 putting them in a tight situation in the bracket standing with 3-4 win loss record placing third behind SCT Batch 2000. VOLLEYBALL Sunday / January 20, 2013 SCT San Lorenzo Gym SCT Batch 99 Volleyball Team automatically won by default versus SCT Batch 88. They now have a 4-1 win-loss record and will slug-it-out with SCT Batch 89 for the right to be the first ever SCT-ASUL Volleyball Tournament Champion. SCT Batch 89 and SCT Batch 99 have one more game in the elimination and shall play it out on January 27, 2013. SCT Batch 98 automatically drops to third place with a 2-3 win-loss record and slipped their chance for a finals spot. |
